About me
“Our desire to play is innate and as vital to human health as sleeping and eating.” - Kathy Hirsh-Pasek, professor of psychology at Temple University, Philadelphia.
It all started when…
I discovered the thrill of creating beauty using the humble pencil as a child. I have studied and created art all my life, exhibiting in Sydney, California and London. I now love to use the skills I have learnt over the years to create original art experiences for my students which provide them a space to discover their own unique voice and style, in whatever medium they are drawn to.
My interest increasingly lies in the joy of the process rather than the finished piece, but more often than not if the former is there, and a state of flow is entered, the finished piece will unfold. I bring to my sessions years of knowledge on technique and materials, a big heart and a desire to see in my students both enjoyment and a state of peace in the moments when they are creating. Art is more than the images we can create. It is also the energy, the truths, the thoughts and imagination that become freed. Art can make us feel more joy, more confident, more centred and at ease.
My other big passion is yoga. I have practised yoga since my early twenties and dabbled in many styles. In 2018 I finally found the space and opportunity in my life to study for my Level 1 Yoga Teacher Training at Pine Rivers Yoga in Brisbane. There I have had the incredible privilege to study with extremely experienced yoga teachers and mentors. The course has contributed significantly to my own personal development and it is natural progression for me to want to share this with others, providing a space for people to feel nurtured, accepted and at peace, whilst getting the opportunity to nourish their bodies.
Where I can I enjoy combining my two passions of yoga and art as they lend so much to one another. Both, in fact, help us to realise the joy in life.
If you are interested in discussing how you can work with me please get in touch. I offer corporate workshops, art lessons and art parties for adults and kids. In my classes you can expect some yoga to unlock your creativity, music, nature, dancing, lots of laughing and without question much paint on your hands!
