Set on a beautiful 3 acre property just 4 minutes drive from Yandina, students will enjoy creating under a shaded area amongst nature.
Term 3 on Thursdays is an 8 week term of art classes running in Ninderry every Thursday from 10am-12 noon.
FIRST STAGE: DRAWING, WORKING IN LINE AND TONE
Study the skull, facial structure and proportions, angles and expressions
Explore portrait composition through examples
Get an introduction to drawing materials and equipment
Sketch self-portraits
Learn how to get a likeness, exploring individuals’ distinct features
SECOND STAGE: INTRODUCING COLOUR AND ESCAPING FROM THE LINE
Work with observing from life and learn how to set them up with background colours and lighting
Develop an understanding of basic colour theory and flesh tones, using a limited palette
Incorporate working with a plumb line
Demo techniques and discuss the colours seen in the face
Start working on short pastel colour sketches, working from the model
THIRD STAGE: WORKING WITH PAINT
Get an introduction to water-mixable oil paints, brushes and equipment
Learn various techniques such as ‘wet on wet’, blending and blurring edges
Explore accents and highlights to bring a painting alive
Work on your final portrait
My art classes are designed to create a fun space for kids to explore their creativity and imaginations. I love to allow children to lead the way when it comes to their art, without too much overt instruction, helping with techniques and skills when required… but allowing them the space to explore and experiment, to find their own unique artistic expression.
Ages 7-18 years. Maximum 10 students
